Plenary Session IV

Motion to shorten speeches from 3 minutes to 2. Although this failed on Monday night, it passed today 438 to 200. This will control all speeches unless changed again with a 2/3 vote.

HIV and AIDS initiative. No one spoke against this $10MM initiative, but one of the comments for the initiative was very interesting. We often ask what would Jesus do, the speaker indicated that Jesus would hand out condoms. Passed 884-41.

First ballot for Vice President

LYO President speech

Address from ELC of Canada. Members closed singing the Doxology very slow and in parts. Beautiful!

B3 Comprehensive Immigration Reform. No one spoke against. Yes 873 No 82. The resolution called for the suspension of all immigration raids until the government can pass comprehensive reform. Not a single question was asked from the floor if this would limit a single ICE official making an arrest.

B8 Educational material in braille and large print. No one speaking against. Yes 926 No 10

The voting members are preparing themselves for this afternoon's consideration of the Human Sexuality Social Statement. Crowds are starting to gather. Another table mate of my with the congregation observers told me the parking rates increased this morning at the convention center!
